Our Vision
City Church is a community of people committed to loving God and loving others because of Jesus
Loving God
At City Church, we are a people committed to helping each other and others to know and love God. We believe that because God is our maker, He knows what's best for us and thus we seek to help each other grow in our understanding of and then obedience to God. This happens largely through the Sunday preaching, community groups, our band of brothers and sisters groups and a desire to build relationally informed by and submitted to God's Word, the Bible.
Loving others
As a community of believers under God, we want to display His goodness and care to others, aiming to demonstrate the love He has so graciously and gladly shown us. We do this through building relationally with each other so we can see and seek to meet the needs of those around us, learning to love each other patiently, forgiving each other, bearing with and praying for each other regularly. Loving others also includes finding ways to serve by building relationally in our communities and partnering with existing ministries. These opportunities thus provide a platform to love others by telling them about Jesus.
Because of Jesus
Our desire to love God and love others grows out of our love for Jesus. We obey God and serve others not to earn favor with God because Christ has done what we could never do. He perfectly obeyed God on our behalf. Christ became sin for us, taking away the punishment that we had earned, so be fully and finally forgiven. As God changes our hearts so that we might understand who Jesus is and what He's done for us, we then respond in loving obedience towards God and glad service towards others. We need constant reminders about this great news about Jesus and and as a community come together regularly to hear and celebrate the gospel so we might be encouraged and equipped to share Him with others.
