Serving the City
"When I see persons who are materially poor, I instantly feel a kinship with them, for they are physically what I was spiritually when my heart was closed to Christ. Perhaps some of them are in their condition because of sin, but so was I. Perhaps they are unkind when I try to help them; but I, too, have been spiteful to God when He has sought to help me. Perhaps they are thankless and even abuse the kindness I show them, but how many times have I been thankless and used what God has given me to serve selfish ends? The gospel reminds me daily of the spiritual poverty into which I was born and also of the staggering generosity of Christ towards me." - Milton Vincent from The Gospel Primer, 38-39
At City Church our heart is to display the gospel through caring for the poor and needy around us. While these demonstrations are not the gospel, they are pictures of the work the gospel has done in the hearts of believers and it is this gospel that empowers and motivates these demonstrations of God's love [see James 1:27]
With that in view, City Church partners organizations in the city aiming to support, serve and work alongside those in need
- Hope for New York - H4NY.org as this organization aims to provide opportunities for churches to care for the poor and marginalized in the city.
- Midtown Pregnancy Support Center - A Center in Manhattan providing support and care for women and families facing unplanned and difficult pregnancies. MPSC also provides classes including breast-feeding and labor and delivery preparation
