Join Hope for New York to serve at Don't Walk By, a city-wide outreach to the homeless during the month of February. You will hit the streets with a team of volunteers on a search for the homeless, offering the street people you encounter a care kit, warm clothes, and the opportunity to receive help and support from neighborhood shelters and recovery programs.

Help Launch New Volunteer Programs
We need volunteers from our three partner churches (Apostles, Redeemer, Trinity Baptist) to help launch new volunteer programs. Our current pilot opportunities include:
Preparing and serving meals at an UES (E70s) homeless shelter
Leading recreational events at an UES (E80s) maternity residence for pregnant and parenting teens who are homeless, adjudicated or in foster care
Serving as a life coach to formerly incarcerated men and women at a re-entry program in East Harlem (E120s)
Volunteering as a one-on-one tutor to low-income students in grades 2-12 at an UWS (W80s) community center
Leading social events or preparing meals at an UWS (W80s) residence for men and women with mental health issues

*URGENT NEED* Serve the Homeless with the Relief Bus this Winter
NYC Relief uses mobile buses to provide food, counseling, spiritual help, and resources to communities in need, who are especially vulnerable in these cold winter months. Volunteers are needed to serve with the South Bronx Bus Saturday, February 11 and the Harlem Bus on Saturday, February 18 from 10AM to 2PM. Click on the links to RSVP.
Pack and Distribute Pantry Bags at the New York City Rescue Mission
Volunteers needed at the New York City Rescue Mission to help pack pantry packs on Friday, February 17 from 7:30PM-9:15PM and to distribute the bags on Saturday, February 18 from 9:45AM-12PM to low income residents in the community. Prepare a Meal & Build Relationships with Women in Recovery
The Bowery Mission Women's Center needs female volunteers to be part of the Saturday and Sunday meals at this UES home, which offers homeless women a nine month residential recovery and transitional program. Be part of building relationships, preparing a meal, and encouraging these women on their journey. The total time commitment is from 2:30PM to 6:30PM for the Sunday meals and 3:30PM to 7:30PM for the Saturday meals. Learn more HERE and e-mail hfny.bmwc@gmail.com.
*URGENT NEED* Serve the Harlem Community at Spa Day
New Song is helping to sponsor a Day of Wellness for the Harlem community. Volunteers are needed to prep for the event on Friday, Feb. 10 (any time between 3PM-9PM) and to serve in hospitality & catering at the event on Saturday, Feb. 11 (Shift 1: 8:30AM-12PM; Shift 2: 1:30PM-5PM). Join a Community & Teach ESL on Saturdays in Brooklyn
Living Waters is a neighborhood church located in Brooklyn striving make the neighborhood a just and joyful place. Volunteers are needed to teach ESL students on Saturdays from 11AM to 12:30PM. Build Relationships with LES Families and Kids at Father's Heart KidZone
The Father's Heart KidZone program provides dinner, activities, and educational games every Tuesday in Alphabet City from 6-7PM. Volunteers are needed to play educational games, help with homework, and tutor at-risk children in grade school at the HFNY Homework Table. Coach Youth Volleyball this Spring
Do you play volleyball? Do you like to teach & encourage youth? If so, consider serving as a Volleyball Coach with Chinese Christian Herald this Spring. Serve International High School Students with Young Life
Serve international high school students at weekly Young Life club, a safe place for non-Christian youth to gather, where the Gospel is presented in a way that is relevant and appealing to teenagers. Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons. Contact savina@hfny.org.
Teach ESL to Arab Immigrants
ESL Tutors are needed on Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 7PM-8:30PM at the Brooklyn Arab American Friendship Center, located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Male tutors are especially needed. Please e-mail Fadia for more information: fadiafarag@earthlink.net.
Knit for Those in Need
Join Knit Together, where volunteers knit and crochet scarves, hats, and prayer shawls to be donated to those in need. Experience in knitting or crochet is required. The next knitting circle is Monday, February 6 at 6PM. Please e-mail hfny.knittogether@gmail.com for more information.
Donate Clothes and Toiletries to the Relief Bus
The Relief Bus is in need of men's and women's clothing such as pants, long-sleeve shirts, hats, scarves and gloves, as well as basic toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and deodorant. Please coordinate donations with Josiah at josiah@reliefbus.org.
